Nolan County is a county located in the west central region of the U.S. state of Texas. In 2000, its population was 15,802. Its seat is Sweetwater. The county is named for Philip Nolan, one of the first American traders to visit Texas.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 914 square miles (2,367 km²), of which, 912 square miles (2,362 km²) of it is land and 2 square miles (5 km²) of it (0.21%) is water.
